Location: Take US Highway 14-A (Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway) to Savoy. Turn west onto Forest Road 222 (towards Roughlock Falls), go approximately 1.5 miles. The trail head is located at the Roughlock Falls Picnic Ground. The trail head is near the access to the falls and is easy to see from the picnic ground.

The trail has a 4% to 6% grade on the lower trail and an 8% to 10% grade on the upper trail with 3 switch backs.

The upper portion of the trail offers accessible picnic sites. There are also seven benches along the trail. The trail offers a view of the Roughlock Falls and access to a bridge over Little Spearfish Creek.
